Ontario regulations consider contact lenses to be medical devices, because they carry the risk of infection or inflammation. Because of this, you’ll need a specialized prescription from an eye care professional to obtain contacts. You should also have annual contact lens exams to monitor your eye health.
How Do I Get Contact Lenses?
Step 1 – Comprehensive Eye Exam
A contact lens exam includes specific tests that are not included in regular eye exams. During this evaluation, your eye structures, such as your corneae and eyelids, will be examined to make sure you’ll be able to wear contact lenses safely and comfortably.
